Mammoplasty or breast augmentation is a surgical procedure performed to enhance the shape and size of breasts.
It involves placing breast implants by means of an incision in the lower breast fold, the areola or armpit. It can be placed under or over the chest muscle.
The plastic surgeon will evaluate the implant type and size according to the anatomy and present mammal tissue. Most women undergo general anaesthesia for this surgery although it may be done with local anaesthesia supplemented by sedation by means of specific medication in order to numb the mammal zone and block pain.
Surgery takes approximately one and a half hours. Your return to work will largely depend on the type of activity you carry out. Most office work does not require physical effort and may be resumed between the third and fifth day after surgery, therefore downtime is minimum or non-existent. You will have to wear a sports top during one month and you will not be able to expose to the sun during that period.
