The hair transplant is a surgical procedure performed to improve baldness. It consists in removing follicular units from the most densely covered areas of the scalp (donor site) to fill an area with thin or no hair at all (recipient site).
It is a minimally invasive procedure performed under local anaesthesia and some kind of sedation and therefore recovery is quite fast. It leaves no scars on the donor site and requires no stitches. Results are very satisfactory aesthetically.
During the days following the treatment, adequate hygiene of both the transplanted area and donor area is required. The patients may go back to their normal activities 72 hs after the procedure. However, they should let a month go by before exposing themselves to the sun or UVA rays because the scalp is more sensitive than usual.

How long before I start to see results?
Normally, hair starts to grow after the first three months following the procedure and the final results will be visible between 9 to 12 months later.
Is everybody eligible to receive a hair transplant?
No. The patient must have a suitable donor area in order to perform a successful transplant since the number of follicles that can be extracted is limited. In addition, it is important to stabilize hair loss, adapting the treatment to the patient’s age
Is it painful?
The sedation makes it practically imperceptible.
