Liposculpture is a surgical procedure indicated to do away with localized fat in certain zones of the body such as cheeks, neck, arms, breasts, abdomen, buttocks, hips, thighs and ankles. It reshapes the body.
Liposculpture consists in making small cuts (less than 1 cm) where a cannula connected to a vacuum system is inserted to remove fat from the area. In some cases, the fat removed, after having been treated, can be plumped to other zones, such as the buttocks.
The duration of the procedure will depend on the areas to be treated and on each patient´s fat volume but it generally does not exceed 4 hours. A 24-hour admission into a hospital will be required. For the patient´s greater comfort and safety, surgical liposculpture is performed under general anaesthesia. There is also the option of non-surgical liposculpture, which does not require anaesthesia or eventually just local anaesthesia.
