Collagen is a fibrous protein found in the dermis, the middle layer of the skin. After the age of 25, our skin decreases collagen production and becomes less elastic and resistant.
One way to stimulate collagen production and redefine the facial oval is through biostimulation. The most widely used collagen stimulators given their high level of safety and efficacy are: Radiesse®, composed of calcium hydroxylapatite, Ellanse®, composed of 70% carboxymethylcellulose and 30% polycaprolactone, and Sculptra®, whose main component is polylactic acid. All their active components are biocompatible and resorbable.
These collagen stimulators are easy to apply and painless. They work by stimulating the area where they are injected enabling cells to produce their own collagen. The first results are visible after the session and patients can return to their normal routine immediately after the treatment.
