Nasolabial folds are the grooves that run from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth, although sometimes they can continue almost to the end of the face.
Nasolabial fold fillers allow to reshape the contour and shape of the face and correct wrinkles. The procedure consists of injecting hyaluronic acid via very small gauge needles. According to the type of groove, physiognomy and, above all, the cause of the nasolabial folds, the filling agent varies. Hyaluronic acid can be used to treat deep as well as superficial grooves.
The treatment is performed on an outpatient basis at OLIVA. It is not very painful, although a topical numbing cream can be used to minimize discomfort. Generally, the grooves are corrected in a single session and the effect lasts between 12 and 18 months.
Once the treatment has been performed, a small amount of swelling may appear in the area of the nasolabial folds, which will diminish after two or three days. At the end of the procedure, the patient can return to normal activities.
