Description

The vertical wrinkles on the upper lip are known as barcode lines.
They are an age-related aesthetic problem. Smoking and sun are the two factors that most influence the appearance of these dreaded perioral wrinkles.

One of the most popular treatments for minimizing the appearance of fine wrinkles on the upper lip is based on hyaluronic acid. In the case of incipient wrinkles, hyaluronic acid provides excellent results. The procedure is performed under topical anaesthesia to minimize discomfort.
The session lasts between 30 and 45 minutes.

After this procedure, slight swelling is normal and may last for about 48 hours. Some bruising may also occur. Normally, we recommend patients to apply a cold compress on the lips and avoid drinking alcohol or exercising that same day of the application so as not to increase the flow of blood to the treated area.

How long do results last?

A minimum of 4 to 6 months and a maximum of 1 year.

What is the procedure like?

Once the lips are numb, the doctor uses either a fine needle or a thin cannula to inject the filler. Depending on the lips being treated, the injection will be applied into the lips, the lip line or just above the lip to ensure symmetry. The amount of product being injected will be monitored, continually evaluating the shape and size of the lips to produce the desired result.

If I am pregnant, can I get lip fillers?

No. Hyaluronic acid dermal filler injections are contraindicated for pregnant or breastfeeding women.

I have a tendency to get herpes on my lips, can I have the treatment?

In this case, it is important to consult your doctor.

What care should I take after the treatment?

You should keep the skin hydrated and nourished. It is advisable to use a moisturizer and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
